4C Learning Spaces

Everything a good teacher does is purposeful and intentional and that includes designing the classroom space.  Yes, we want classrooms to be aesthetically pleasing, and even more importantly we want classroom designs that promote Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication, the 4Cs.

Mrs. Wills Classroom – 4C learning space design

In classrooms that embody the 4Cs you find areas for students to think and work together to solve engaging problems.  There are a wide array of resources and materials for students to use to demonstrate their thinking in original ways. In addition, you will find spaces where students share their ideas openly and freely.

“You have created your “Dream Classroom” environment and now it is time to create a community where children feel loved, safe, and are motivated to learn! Enjoy your building your new environment and remember, it is you, the ‘Dream Teacher,” that will make that dream come true!”

In August I launched the #AchieveIt Classroom Challenge Campaign and invited teachers to share their classroom designs and how they used their spaces to promote the 4Cs.  I would like to thank all of the teachers who submitted pictures of their classrooms and invite you to watch the video below that showcases their spaces.
